Activities
city tours
In the old town there are numerous half-timbered houses that were built between the 13th and 19th centuries. One of the most famous houses is the House of the Seven Vices, built in 1567, whose carvings depict the seven main vices of Christianity.
There are exciting insights and anecdotes on the night watchman tours on Saturdays at 8 p.m. or on the general city tours on Saturdays at 3 p.m. or Sundays at 2.30 p.m.
Registration is via the tourist information on 06431 6166.
Hikes on foot or by bike
Whether in hiking boots or on a bike, Limburg and its varied surroundings are perfect both as a starting point and as a stage destination for eventful tours.
From a leisurely hike to challenging, longer bike tours, there are beautiful routes for all ages and depending on your condition.
Leisure & action
In Limburg and the surrounding area you will find a wide range of leisure activities in every season. Depending on the season, you can swim lengths in the outdoor or indoor pool, go karting or paintball, or put your skills to the test at mini golf or in the climbing forest. If you prefer less action, an idyllic boat trip on the Lahn is a nice alternative.
Let us know what you enjoy, we would be happy to give you a few tips or put together an individual list for you.
Cathedral tours
The Limburg Cathedral, also known as St. George’s Cathedral, is the city’s landmark and should not be missing from the list of sights.
Details on a cathedral tour and on making an appointment can be found on the Limburg diocese’s website.
museums and sights
In addition to the Limburg Cathedral and the House of the Seven Vices, there are many other attractive sights in Limburg and the surrounding area. For example, visit the beautiful palaces and castles in Runkel, Weilburg and Braunfels or take a detour to the Lahn Marble Museum in Villmar. The Diocesan Museum and parts of the bishop’s house not far from the cathedral are also very popular destinations.
shopping and gastronomy
Our beautiful cathedral city is also characterized by a wide range of restaurants and attractive shopping opportunities. In the picturesque old town you will find the traditional Café Will and Café Kosmol – just to name the two oldest. Numerous other cafés, restaurants, ice cream parlors and pubs – and of course our bodega. Throughout the city center there is a wide range of culinary delights for every taste – from sweet to savory and from meat to vegetarian.
Whether it’s exclusive fashion and accessories for women and men, Limburg chocolate and Limburg beer, souvenirs, market stalls with fresh fruit and vegetables – the delightful little retail shops invite you to stroll and shop. In addition, the WERKStadt is an attractive shopping center with a variety of retail and gastronomy areas.
